Today saw an early start as we had a breakfast date with the Orangutans at the Singapore Zoo.
We caught a taxi and on the way our taxi driver, who only knew one speed and that was floor to the ground, almost had an encounter with a van which swerved into his lane almost cutting him off. He of course tooted the van driver who must have been deaf because he seemed to not have heard the incessant tooting from our driver. Most of us would have backed off but not our man, he kept coming no matter the consequence. Luckily for us the van driver then got his bearings and drive in a straight line. Whew!!!

Arriving at the zoo, we had a buffet breakfast which included our Aussie favourites of baked beans, eggs , toast and lots of other goodies except vegemite .
The Orangutans were brought out to meet their audience .

There were two females with their babies who behaved just like cheeky monkeys. Ha . What a sense of humour. ! I wondered what they thought of us. ? I reckon the two females were thinking something like this , ' Humans again, this is getting boring, but all we have to do is sit here and let the humans take their happy snaps and, best of all, we get to have lots of food, '

Tell us what you think when you view the pics !
The Orangutan whose story inspired this is Ah Meng . She was the first to host the zoo's breakfast with Ah Meng .So loved was Ah Meng that 4,000 people attended her memorial service in February 2008.
By allowing visitors to interact with the orangutans, the Singapore zoo aims to raise public awareness of the importance of preserving the orangutans natural habitat.
Following our breakfast and photos we wandered through the zoo and came across some interesting characters. The baboons were very engaging and entertaining .

Tonight we're off to The Gardens on the Bay which we have been told is not too be missed.

Great start to your blog. Well written and engaging
