Bath and Stonehenge

Sunday we headed off again to rural England, this time to Bath and Stonehenge. On this occasion, the weather decided to rain and rain it did. Not much that can be done about weather so soldier on we did.

We arrived in Bath which is a UNESCO World Heritage site because of its history. The Romans discovered this site in 42 BC and being the intelligent people that they were, created a thermal hotsprings.

Bath is also the home of Jane Austen the renowned British author.  Bath is constructed from the local golden coloured Bath Stone. The dominant architectural style is Georgian. There is widespread use of local limestone and the uniform.

Bath is a lovely place and again full of history .

We then travelled to Stonehenge, another UNESCO world heritage site. The weather was so wet that it meant that we opted to have a quick look, take some pics and then have a coffee before heading back.

All in all, it was a good day . To have had the opportunity to visit two sites that have World Heritage listing is both unique and special.

Today is our last day in London . It has been great, full of beautiful architecture and history.
