Paris Part 1

We arrived in Paris on the Eurostar from London.

First impressions : Not what I had imagined. I had images of a well dressed and chique population. Stereotypes I admit!  What we found is a conglomerate  of different nations, lots of smokers, dirty streets, homeless and those with obvious mental health issues walking the streets.  Also obvious are the Syrian refugees who sit in the streets obviously homeless. We came across several families not just singles. In fact there was a homeless  woman outside Notre Dame . Not sure what the answer is but there is certainly a problem here not only with these refugees but with groups of young African men/ boys who hang around tourist spots. Interestingly when we were outside the Louvre today, we saw two police officers on roller blades skating across the area and the African boys dispersed very quickly.   Did I mention the prostitutes in the streets and doorways ready for business. We saw them as well today.Lots of graffiti around as well.  Made for an interesting first day!

Not all bad however. We did go out for a long walk and managed to find the Louvre but too late in the day to go in but beautiful place. We made our way across to the Arch de Triomphe and visited Notre Dame.

Tomorrow we plan to visit the Palais de Versailles .

Bon Nuit from us
